There is something unmistakably special about the Fort Worth Stockyards. With its historic brick streets, rustic architecture, and iconic Texas character, it creates a one-of-a-kind setting for photographs that feel timeless, relaxed, and full of personality.
Whether you are celebrating a growing family, documenting a special trip to Fort Worth, or simply ready for updated family portraits, your session will be designed to capture genuine connection while incorporating the unmistakable spirit of the Stockyards.
These are more than Western-inspired photographs. They are memories of your family together during a season that deserves to be remembered.
Timeless Family Photos With a Little Texas Personality
A Fort Worth Stockyards photography session is perfect for families who want something different from a traditional park or field setting.
The historic buildings, textured brick, wooden storefronts, vintage details, and warm Western atmosphere provide variety without requiring your family to travel between several locations. We can create polished family portraits, candid walking photographs, individual pictures of your children, and plenty of natural moments together throughout the session.
You do not need to know how to pose or worry about making your children behave perfectly. I will guide you through the entire experience while keeping the session comfortable, lighthearted, and true to your family.
The result is a gallery that feels elevated and distinctly Fort Worth without feeling overly posed or themed.

Our photos turned out absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Sam captured each of our children’s unique personalities so naturally, and every image feels genuine and fun. If you’re looking for a photographer who is professional, kind, and incredibly talented, I highly recommend Sam. She made the evening fun and enjoyable, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We will definitely be booking with her again!

We absolutely love having Sam capture our family! We've done several photo sessions with her around DFW, including Texas Tulips, and every experience has been wonderful. She's great with kids, and as a mom, that's always a bonus with littles! She keeps them engaged and brings out genuine smiles. She makes the whole session easy and relaxed, and we've loved all the images she's captured for our family. She’s the best of the best!!

We did a mom and me session with Sam and had an awesome time! She chose the perfect location and did an amazing job with the weather that was given to us that day… it was the most windiest day ever! But she performed a miracle and the pictures came out amazing! Definitely using her again for the next photo session
I recommend an early morning session if you would prefer to avoid larger crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures, especially during the warmer months. Sunrise also creates a beautiful, soft glow throughout the Stockyards that cannot be replicated during an evening session.
Evening sessions are also a great option, particularly for families who prefer warmer sunset tones. However, the Stockyards can be much busier later in the day. If a major event is taking place, we may need to work around larger crowds and adjust which backdrops are available during your session.
Some evening sessions may also be available depending on the season, scheduled events, crowds, and lighting conditions.
The Stockyards is a popular Fort Worth destination, which is why I carefully consider the session time and our starting location. Early sessions allow us to work around many of the busiest visitor times while still incorporating recognizable Stockyards scenery.
Your session may include several nearby backgrounds featuring brick streets, rustic buildings, wooden textures, historic architecture, and other recognizable Western details. The exact route will depend on lighting, crowds, events, and accessibility on the day of your session.
Western-inspired clothing works beautifully, but cowboy boots and hats are completely optional. Neutral colors, denim, earth tones, subtle patterns, textured fabrics, dresses, boots, and layered pieces complement the surroundings especially well.
Every booked family receives styling guidance to help create a polished look that still feels natural and true to your family.
Longhorn photographs are operated separately from your family session and are not included. Access, scheduling, fees, and photography rules are controlled by the individual operator or organization.
Your regular session will focus on the historic Stockyards setting rather than depending on the availability of animals.
I monitor the weather closely and will reach out if conditions are likely to interfere with your session. When rescheduling is necessary, your retainer will transfer to the new agreed-upon date.
While many outdoor areas throughout the Stockyards are available for photography, access to specific backdrops cannot be guaranteed. Private events, crowds, construction, or individual business policies may affect which locations are available on the day of your session.
Professional photography inside Hotel Drover requires advance permission and typically involves a location fee starting around $1,000. We can generally photograph outside Hotel Drover as long as the area is not being used for a private event.
Some local businesses also have beautiful lobbies or indoor spaces and may allow a few photographs when permission is requested in advance. If you have a particular storefront, hotel, lobby, or backdrop in mind, please let me know before your session so I can confirm availability and obtain any necessary permissions.
I recommend reserving your session four to six weeks in advance. Earlier booking is encouraged for spring, fall, holiday weekends, and dates surrounding major Fort Worth events.
Standard family sessions are intended for one immediate family. Sessions involving grandparents, multiple households, or larger extended-family groups require an extended-family session so there is enough time to photograph the full group and individual family combinations. I do not recommend the Fort Worth Stockyards for large groups.
Typical gallery delivery is approximately two weeks, although turnaround times may shift slightly during busier seasons. You will receive an estimated delivery window when your session is booked.
