I began capturing families in Hawaii shortly after arriving here 8+ years ago! We moved to Hawaii to be close to my husbands family. He is a "local boy" born and raised on the Big Island!

Once your date is reserved, we'll connect to start chatting about possible locations for your session. We generally recommend choosing a location nearby where you are staying. If there are any mobility concerns for your family we will give you suggestions.
If you're not sure about where you would like to take your photos but you have a general idea of the look you would like, just let us know because we would be happy to recommend a few locations based on your aesthetic! We have a detailed location guide that will help you to make the best decision!

On the day of your session, I'll send you a text to make sure you have my number in case you get lost.
We will meet on location at a specified time and have a little chat and I will brief everyone who is attending the photoshoot about the overall plan of the time we have together. Discuss any extra combinations of photos and if you all would like to get in the water. (I suggest bringing a towel and change of clothes if so!)

We scheduled Sam for some family pictures during our vacation to the big island. Sam knew the best beach for a photo op and the Hawaii sunset did not disappoint. We felt comfortable with Sam behind the camera and my family had a wonderful time. Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. If you do this, we recommend making sure that the printer does not color correct the images (many automatically do this.) We also recommend looking for a high quality printer. While 10 cent prints sound great in theory, the cheaper printing quality often won’t do your images justice. Paper quality, color correction and a handful of other factors play a big role in the way your prints turn out. This is one of the reasons why we LOVE offering prints to our clients.

Can I print the images on my own?

While we don’t guarantee an exact number of images, we will make sure we capture your family thoroughly. Most families should expect to receive at least 50-150 edited images following their session depending on your session length.

How many images will I receive?

We guarantee that your images will remain in an online gallery for at least 6 months. While your galleries may stay up longer than that, we cannot guarantee it. Once your galleries have been delivered, we highly recommend downloading all high resolution images to several devices. Consider investing in a portable, waterproof external hard drive.

How long will I have access to the images?

While turnaround times can vary by season, we aim to deliver all images within two weeks of your session.

Questions
You are absolutely welcome to share images on social media. To ensure that our work is properly represented, we ask that you refrain from any edits. We also appreciate (although not required) image credits and tags as they help us to continue to grow as a business.

Can I share the images on social media?
q:
By default, the creators of images always own the rights to the images. However we’ll give you a release to use, print and share your images. The only thing you won’t be able to do is sell your image as a stock photo. We won’t do this either without your written permission.

Do I own the rights to the images?
q:
We typically plan about 45-90 minutes for sessions depending on your package choice. While we likely don’t need to be shooting this entire time, this does give us the flexibility for location changes, rowdy kids and time to warm up. I usually put some buffer time into your session to account for getting lost but on-time arrival is very important.

How long should we plan for the session to take?
q:
We edit every image that is delivered. We will adjust exposure, crop, straighten, adjust colors and contrast. If there are glaring objects that should be removed (such as a people on the beach) we’ll remove it. Larger edits (such as removing tan lines, liquifying bodies, whitening teeth, intense skin smoothing, removing bandaids) require more time and would require us to add additional editing hours to your collection and a fee of $45 per image. We make no guarantee we can accomodate special requests.

Will you edit our images?

Unfortunately, no. No two sessions are the same. I do not replace any of the skies in my photos. Whatever the weather decides to gives us that day is what we have to work with. I make no promises that I can give you an epic sunset or sunrise in your photos.

Can you guarantee the sunset/sky will be epic in our photos?
q:
Yes. The sun is my source of lighting which is why it is super important to arrive on-time to your session. I rarely will ever use any type of flash at your session.

Are you a natural light photographer?

No. We will never give or release any raw, unedited images.

Do you release raw images?
q:
It is the photographers discretion on whether to reschedule due to weather. If there is a light sprinkle we will likely continue with the photoshoot. If it is pouring we will reschedule. We will not reschedule for clouds. Clouds are our friends.

DO YOU RESCHEDULE DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS?

Most of my photoshoots are scheduled at sunrise or sunset. I typically only shoot between Monday thru Friday. On occasions I do book weekend sessions but it is on a case by case basis.

When do you schedule shoots?
q:
Majority of my communication is via email. If you'd like to talk on the phone I'd ask that we schedule a date and time. I can send you available meeting times. I will send you a text the day of your shoot to make sure you have no issues locating the photoshoot spot. If any communication is needed after your photoshoot I kindly ask that any further communication would be via email. Normal business hours are Monday - Friday 9AM - 2PM HST and closed on all major holidays. I will return emails typically within 24-48 hours.

What is the best way to communicate with you?

In most instances, yes. Depending on the location of the rental there may be a travel fee that may be assessed. If you have someone with mobility concerns, typically your vacation rental could be a perfect location.
