Who do I work with?
My style is a mixture of traditional and candid, authentic moments. I love the picture that is going to make grandma cry and I love the candid interactions between you and your loved ones. My photos are described as true to life and vibrant colored!

I came to the big island to celebrate my 40th bday and celebrates my mom’s life. I knew it would be an emotional but very important vacation. I knew I wanted to do something special since my dad, brother and sister in law were going to be out there with us.
I got the idea to do some family photos while in paradise and reached out to a friend for suggestions. Sam was simply an amazing photographer and she even ordered and picked up leis and a haku for us. She did all the planning and we just showed up. She was amazing with my two young kids and with all the adults. Not one bad photo was taken.

Sam is amazing! The day we scheduled a sunrise photoshoot, it was overcast. Sam went to the location early to verify that it wasn't raining. Just in case we needed to reschedule, she didn't want us to wake up the kids. We did end up doing the photoshoot that day. She was very helpful with getting wonderful shots of my active 5-yr old and my 7 month old. We are definitely pleased! We will be booking with Sam again!

I recommend a sunrise photoshoot at the very beginning of your vacation before you adjust to our time zone. If you are traveling from the east coast or midwest - sunrise will be great for you all! There will be few people on the beaches, the temperatures are absolutely perfect so no sweating! Get it done and over with for the day and go enjoy the beach!
Should I do a sunrise shoot?
We do light editing (adjusting exposure, vibrance of colors, cropping) on all of our images. We also remove glaring objects that should be removed (such as people in the background). Larger edits (such as removing tan lines, skin smoothing, teeth whitening, liquifying) require more time and would require us to add additional editing hours and a fee will be added per image. No detailed edits are guaranteed and are reviewed on case by case basis.
Will you photoshop or retouch our images?
Typical turnaround time for a session is two weeks. On occasion and during the holiday seasons the turnaround time can go up to 3 weeks.
When will I receive my photos?
When you book a session with me, you will never have to stress about styling or what to wear to your session! You will have access to one of the best tools in the industry called Style & Select. This online platform helps you to easily coordinate your entire families outfits, shop from brands from target to high-end boutiques. After booking your session, you will receive a Style Guide with a styling code that you will use to begin to coordinate your outfits. As they say on their website, “outfit coordination made easy!” A PDF style guide alone is not going to help you style your family, Mama! We need the links to purchase those beautiful dresses and if you are plus size like me, its hard enough finding outfits as it is!

For the most part, weather on our island is pretty predictable but there are occasions that it may dump some unwanted substance from the sky. Rain isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes those dark clouds turn out very beautiful in photos. If we ever need to reschedule due to weather it'll be at my discretion. I always suggest to book you session at the beginning of your trip just in case. I typically have availability to reschedule when you are here!
What is the weather isn't ideal?
Don't worry about what the kids do during the shoot! The main thing is that you love on them, play with them and lean into whatever they are doing. I know it can be frustrating when kids don't listen but trust me - I've never photographed a cute frustrated parent. :-) We will let them explore the area, let them check things out. I will guide them through some fun things to do and I promise you will want to hang the photo on the wall!
What if the kids don't listen?
After you sign your contract and pay the retainer I will share my location guide with you. Depending on where you are staying on island, I will give you some suggestions that are nearby. There are certain locations that do require special permitting and permission. If there are additional costs to the location you choose, client will be responsible for those fees.
Where should we take our photos?
I recommend sunset sessions for the sought after golden glow! If you have a large family, I will just tell you it's much easier to coordinate the family in the afternoon, than early in the morning! Hawaii is known for their sunsets, you will not be disappointed!
Should we do a sunset shoot?
FAQs
Approximately 2-3 weeks after your photoshoot you will receive an online gallery where you can download high-res images for sharing or printing. You will receive a certificate for print release. Although printing directly from your gallery does support me and my work and guarantees the image quality is top-notch!

We finally get to meet in person! We will have a little chat to get to know each other better. I start off super relaxed. I will explain my process and will start guiding the shoot! I typically start with the traditional poses and then will guide your family through some ques to get real and raw interactions with one another.
shoot your session
I only shoot at sunrise or sunset so it's important to reserve your time and day. Sunrise is typically at 6AM and sunset is around 6PM depending on the time of the year. A week before your photoshoot I will confirm the meet up time if it needs to change depending on the exact time of sunrise or sunset.
